A little further afield is Totnes, the oldest town in England. This small historic town contains the most original shops to be found anywhere! Paintings and Clothes, Organic Restaurants, Bookshops, Elizebethan market, Totnes castle and of course the River Dart, down which a boat trip takes you through breathtaking scenery to the ancient Naval College town of Dartmouth.

Also within easy travelling distance is Plymouth with its new Aquarium housing the country's largest collection of sharks, Plymouth Dome, and not to be missed the Barbican where the Pilgrim Fathers set off for America.
